Coming to a County Near You

CMOR conducts annual Collaborative Polls as a research service offered to organizations with a county-wide interest as an affordable method of collecting information on opinions & attitudes of county residents. In 2012, CMOR will be conducting polls in the following counties: Summit, Stark, Medina, Cuyahoga, and Tuscarawas (new).

EDGE Certification

Happy Holidays! At CMOR, we love numbers. Here are a few interesting facts that we found about one of our favorite seasons:

  • 21,000- # of Christmas tree growers in the U.S.
  • 7-10 yrs- the time it takes Christmas Trees to mature.
  • 1890- the year Christmas lights were first mass produced.
  • 23,000,000- # of people shopping on 12/24/10.

2011 has been another great year at CMOR. In July, we celebrated our 5-year anniversary and were fortunate to add several new team members. We worked with Summit DD on their successful levy campaign, completed a Community Health Needs Assessment in Stark County, and expanded our collaborative poll program to Cuyahoga County. We look forward to another great year in 2012.

Case Study: Stark County Community Health Needs Assessment

DirectionsCMOR recently completed the 2011 Stark County Community Health Needs Assessment on behalf of the Stark County Health Needs Assessment Committee which included the Stark County Health Department, the Aultman Health Foundation, Alliance Community Hospital, and Mercy Medical Center.

The first phase of the project consisted of a random sample telephone survey of Stark County households utilizing the Stark Poll. The second phase of the project consisted of reviewing and analyzing secondary data sources to identify priority areas of concern when analyzed alongside survey data. Using all data available, CMOR identified priorities for the county.

Nearly 70 officials from health and social services agencies and community volunteers attended a Community Health Summit in which the health assessment results were discussed. Based on the data presented at the summit, participants identified through a vote the county's three priority health issues: Access to health care and health insurance, mental health care and healthy lifestyle choices - which includes topics such as tobacco use - wellness and obesity.

You can read the full health assessment here.
